apromace data systems GmbH looks back on a successful participation at the Hannover Messe 2012, and many interesting discussions with prospective customers. Trade fair visitors from all manufacturing industries showed great interest in the modules of the apromaceMES Manufacturing Execution Systems.

Mr. Knut Asmus, Six-Sigma Black Belt at apromace summarized: The pressure on businesses continues to grow and requires to focus on specialization. But the current standard solutions can only partly represent these complex manufacturings. The combination of IT, automation and process knowledge in the apromace solutions found the greatest interest.

The Institute of Automation and Information Technology (IAI) and apromace data systems GmbH singed a cooperation contract this week. Aim of the cooperation is the combination and distribution of the innovative identification system with the well-established apromaceGUSS-system.

The IAI developed an identification system for chill casting and sand casting to mark casting parts with an individual Data Matrix Code before the casting. In combination with the Manufacturing Execution System apromaceGUSS and the Center of Excellence Transparent Foundry, new chances arise for foundries in Germany and Europe to trace back castings and optimize their processes.

apromace data systems GmbH is going to exhibit at the HANNOVER MESSE this year again. The trade fair will take place from Monday, 23 to Friday, 27 April 2012.

apromace data systems GmbH together with companies from Dresden and the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (IVI) works since early 2012 in the research project PLUSS. Aim of the project is to develop a new method to use time and resources in the area of job-shop production more effectively.

Manufacturing companies are constantly faced with the task to plan and control their production processes. This production planning is complicated by various uncertainties that require immediate changes or ongoing adjustments. Among these uncertainties are varying order structures with different materials and thereby caused retooling of machines and tools. In addition, the staff for retooling, the staff's qualifications and the necessary time have to be taken into account. Other factors are short-term orders, machine failures, internal logistics, illness-related loss of staff and shortages of supplies.

The research project PLUSS aims to develop a new software system to find the most cost efficient and optimal operational production planning even under these uncertain conditions. The initiative aims to conceive an overall system, design mathematical models and algorithms, realize a prototype, and perform tests on selected applications within the next two years.

The project team consists of three medium-sized companies and the Fraunhofer Research Institute IVI in Dresden, which together cover the necessary sections. As an institution of applied research, the IVI is working on models and algorithms for production planning under uncertainty, apromace data systems GmbH is engaged in the provision and analysis of process data and a system for determining the probability of failure of machines and tools. The ERP vendors and process optimizers DUALIS GmbH IT Solution and Dresden Informatik GmbH complete the project team by the development of a component for production planning with real-time optimization algorithms as well as the preparation for a production and logistics planning and the necessary conditions for the integration into existing IT infrastructures.

The project is funded by the program Innovative regionale Wachstumskerne in the framework of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) initiative Unternehmen Region.
